CLOTHING AND GEAR

• 1 pair of good quality hiking boots
  • Grip-type threads
  • Good Quality
  • Water resistant liner (i.e. Gore-Tex)
  • Well broken-in
• 1 pair of rubber boots for moose hunters
• 1 pair of camp shoes which will be left in camp
• Rain gear
  • Light weight and good quality (i.e. Cabela's Dry-Plus)
  • Jacket and Pants
• 1 light or medium long underwear
• 2 pairs of hunting trousers
• 1 wool sweater
• 1 warm parka and/or fleece jacket
• 1 warm hat
• 1 pair of lined, water-resistant gloves
• 1 pair of light wool gloves : thinsulate (rag wool)
• 2 cotton shirts or fleece top
• 4 pairs of socks, wool or synthetic
• Toilet kit (medications)
• Towels, soap
• Sunglasses
• Camera and film (i.e. 100-400ASA)
• Lighter / flashlight / batteries
• Sunscreen / Lip balm
• Headlamp / Flashlight
• Water Bottle
• Sleeping Bag : Down or Hollofil
• Good quality day pack (all hunters)

HUNTING GEAR

• Rifle
  • 30-06, 300mag, 7mm or equivalent
  • As light weight as possible
  • Equipped with a scope
• Gun cleaning kit
• Ammunition belt holder
• Approximately 30 rounds per rifle
• Field glasses (7 or 8 power)
• Spotting scope (optional)
• Pocket knife / sheath
  

FOR YOUR INFORMATION

Your clothes : Should be lightweight and warm. I try to buy clothes that will dry out in the wind fast. I do not bring rain pants because my hunting pants are waterproof. It is better to have layers than bulky clothing.

Baggage : 50 lb per person allowed. This will be strictly enforced.

Soft gun cases : The charter flight service asks clients to leave hard gun cases in Smithers. Please bring a soft gun case for the airplane. We have a place to leave hard gun cases in Smithers.

Gun Insurance & Regulations
We recommend all hunters purchase extra coverage for their rifles while in transit with the Airline companies. Airlines will only give 10-20 cents on the dollar of their actual value.

A firearm declaration will be provided; present your form to Canada Customs upon entry into Canada. We recommend you fill out your form prior to arrival at customs. The form must be signed in front of a Canada Customs Official.

Hunt Dates : If your hunt commences in August be prepared for warm and cooler weather. For mid September to October hunts, please bring warm clothes for snow and below freezing temperatures.
